2020

2019

2018

A major issue in the media concerned the sex-scandal in the Aid sector, #Aidtoo, and the ombudsman function I proposed. There were 19 interviews for television, radio and newspapers. I was interviewed 6 times about the Sulawesi earthquake. Other major topics were the crisis in Yemen and humanitarian support to Syria. Some highlights below:

2017

At the beginning of 2017, there was a lot of media attention to the famine in the Horn of Africa. Among 13 interviews were an hour of responding to questions from listeners in the ‘ask-me-anything’ programme of Jürgen Raimann, and another highlight was the guerrilla-lecture I did with the University of the Netherlands.

2016

Around 20 interviews mainly on humanitarian policy around the World Humanitarian Summit, as well as refugee care in Europe. One of the highlights was a 15 minute television lecture on disasters for the University of the Netherlands.

2015

2014

This year I had 13 media performances on topics ranging from the IPCC report, Ebola in West Afric, aid to Iraq and Syria and responses to Typhoon Hayan in the Philippines.

2013

In more than 20 media appearances I mainly reacted on developments regarding typhoon Hayan, and the crisis in Syria. I also was a regular contributor to Villa VPRO radio.

2012

Some 20 appearances, many on responses to sexual violence in DRC, an interesting roundtable on MSF, and a strange interview on the ancient Maya prediction of the imminent end of the world.

2011

This year, my 31 media appearances mainly focused on the famine in Somalia, the Tsunami in Japan, and world food questions.

2010

This year, some 45 media appearances mainly concerned the earthquake in Haiti and the floods in Pakistan.
